Tobacco Free Lincoln County is a collaborative effort that focuses on keeping youth from starting to use tobacco, reducing access to tobacco products, and increasing awareness about the dangers of secondhand smoke. It is funded by the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services/Tobacco Free Nebraska Program as a result of the Tobacco Master Settlement Agreement.

2014: JUBILEE YEAR!
On January 14, 1964, the U.S. Surgeon General released his first report on "Smoking and Health." The report identified smoking as a cause of lung cancer. Since then, 30 additional Surgeon General's reports have been released, showing the growing evidence of health effects from smoking and secondhand smoke: heart disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), pregnancy complications, and childhood diseases.
The 50th anniversary report was released in January, 2014. It included the following:<
*Cigarettes are more dangerous in their makeup than they used to be
*In addition to lung cancer, and the other problems we already knew about; smoking increases the risks of colorectal cancer, rheumatoid arthritis, male erectile dysfunction and diabetes
*A call to action! Let's all work to make the next generation tobacco free!
Did you know? - Nearly all adult tobacco users started when they were under the age of 18.
Decide now! It won't be me who provides tobacco to a minor!
