Providing positive activities for youth

In today’s world, social media is the #1 outlet that youth look to for the latest information. The goal of theLINC is to give youth a safe Facebook page they can “own” and be able to count on for fun and constructive ideas. The page is updated on a daily basis to keep youth informed of all events that are youth-friendly. All events posted on theLINC promote positive language and material, as well as being alcohol, tobacco and drug-free.

The Impact

It is easy for youth to feel there is “nothing for them to do” in their community. However, by promoting and engaging in events that are youth-friendly, local businesses and organizations can build a bridge that will keep youth coming back. The idea of theLINC is based on the 40 Developmental Assets Framework. By giving youth a voice, theLINC promotes the Assets of Constructive Use of Time, Community Values Youth, as well as sets Boundaries and Expectations.

The mission of theLINC is to make this the ultimate source for youth-centered activities in Lincoln County. It is imperative that we as a community empower youth to feel that they are a vital component of the community giving them the power to make constructive decisions.
