Youth development is about building leaders for a better tomorrow. Asset Teams are a leadership program for sixth-, seventh- and eighth-graders that focuses on the Developmental Assets, which are 40 common-sense, positive experiences and qualities that help influence choices made by young people. Using the 40 Developmental Assets, today’s youth are learning to create change by investing in their communities.
Our goal is to promote positive change within the school and community by encouraging all community members to assist in building assets within our children. All individuals have the power to make a difference, no matter who they are or what their lives are like. Our partners include North Platte Public Schools, Nebraska Crime Commission, and Region II Human Services.
How can my child join an Assets Team?
At the beginning of each school year, the Youth Program Coordinator meets with teachers and administrators to select students for the program. Students stay with the same Assets Team until the end of eighth grade.
